Isolated from naturally-infected Thicket Rats captured in CAR in 1965 (Landau and Chabaud). Passaged (Paris) and through mosquito (London). Uncloned isolate sent to Edinburgh from LSHTM, 1966. -> 10x mouse passage, 3x G. surdaster passage, 3x An. stephensi transmission, Pyrimethamine selection, 12x mouse passage, 28x G. surdaster passage, 15x An. stephensi transmission, cloning, 17X(Pr1) clone; deep froze stabilate 11/10/71.

Original isolate from wild-caught T. rutlians 483 in Congo-Brazzaville. Passaged 3x,through mouse 10.8.66. Frozen stabilate received Edinburgh from Killick-Kendrick 25.10.71; frozen stabilate, 1DD, 5/11/71.

Blood isolates of naturally-infected Thicket Rats captured in the Cameroon in 1974 (JM Bafort) Deep-froze samples sent to Edinburgh by Marc Wery, Antwerp, 1977.

Isolated Congo-Brazzaville, 28.10.72 from Thamnomys rutilans. Frozen blood sent to LSHTM by Irene Landau. Inoculated into mice in 28.9.73, sent to Edinburgh 18.10.73 (mouse 1DS). Cloned, 19/7/74; stabilates 15DS11, 15DS30 made on 6/8/74. 15DS30 -> 2 mouse passage, mosquito transmission; frozen stabilates (39DS) 6/5/75
